The Metamons team builds the competitive team-builder and Pokédex behind this site. We play Smogon singles and VGC doubles across Gen 1–9 and cross-check every guide against live usage data before publishing.

How we research our guides

Every guide is written from hands-on ladder and tournament experience, then cross-checked against live Smogon usage statistics before it ships. We date each guide with a real publish and update timestamp, and we revise tier lists and format pages as the metagame and banlists shift. When a claim depends on a primary source, we link it directly so you can verify it yourself.

Data sources

PokéAPI — Pokédex entries, base stats, abilities, moves, and evolution data.
Smogon — tier definitions, format rules, and usage statistics (via data.pkmn.cc).
Community references such as Bulbapedia and Serebii for cross-checking.
