Our guides explain competitive team-building concepts using referenced Smogon, Pokémon Showdown, and game-mechanics resources. Rulesets, available Pokémon, and usage trends change, so always confirm current legality in your chosen format.

How we research our guides

Every guide is written from hands-on ladder and tournament experience, then cross-checked against live Smogon usage statistics before it ships. We date each guide with a real publish and update timestamp, and we revise tier lists and format pages as the metagame and banlists shift. When a claim depends on a primary source, we link it directly so you can verify it yourself.

Data sources

  • PokéAPI — Pokédex entries, base stats, abilities, moves, and evolution data.
  • Smogon — tier definitions, format rules, and usage statistics (via data.pkmn.cc).
  • Community references such as Bulbapedia and Serebii for cross-checking.

Pokémon artwork and sprites are served from PokéAPI's community-maintained sprite repository. PokéAPI is a data source, not a blanket license for Pokémon artwork; rights and attribution terms may differ by asset. MetaMons does not own Pokémon artwork, character names, or trademarks. Our Pokédex pages feature original MetaMons analysis rather than reproduced in-game descriptions. Check each asset's source and applicable rights information for licensing details.
