Metamons & team builder FAQ

How Metamons stacks up against other builders, which formats it covers, and where the Pokédex data comes from. The same answers show up whenever you follow a guide into the builder.

01How is this different from the Pokémon Showdown team builder?
Showdown's builder is a flat form. This one adds AI type coverage reads, weakness analysis across all six of your Pokémon, and plain English feedback on what threatens your core. Anything you build still exports as a Showdown paste.
02Which competitive formats are supported?
Smogon singles (OU, UU, RU, NU, PU, Ubers, LC) and official doubles (VGC), across Generations 1 through 9. Learnsets, abilities, and legality all scope to the format you pick.
03Is it free to use?
Yes. Team building, coverage reads, and the full Pokédex are free. No account needed.
04Do you save my teams?
Teams stay in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you export a paste or share a team URL.
05Where does the Pokémon data come from?
Species, types, abilities, and movesets come from PokéAPI. Competitive tiers follow Smogon's published tier lists. Sprites and artwork are served from PokéAPI's public CDN.
06What are VGC theme teams?
Doubles rosters built around a concept rather than pure meta picks. Monotype lines, anime inspired squads, item motifs, or flinch stacking gimmicks. They still need regulation legal sets since coverage and speed checks matter even when flavor comes first.
